Dating back to 1198, these massive cypress remains are tied to a legendary bridge commissioned by samurai lord Inage Shigenari and linked to the mysterious death of shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo. Today, precise replicas stand in a commemorative pool over the underground-preserved originals, marking where the Sagami River flowed over seven hundred years ago.
