Constructed in 1604 at the foot of Mount Shizuki, Hagi Castle served as the stronghold of the formidable Mori clan for more than two and a half centuries. Although the main keep was dismantled following the fall of the feudal era, its imposing stone foundations, expansive moats, and forested park grounds remain remarkably evocative. Visitors can stroll peaceful paths shaded by pine trees, explore remnant ramparts, and take in serene views where samurai history meets the Sea of Japan.
