Founded in 1656 as a dedicated family temple for the ruling Mori Clan, Daishoin is one of Hagi's most evocative historical landmarks. Belonging to the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, the complex features an impressive wooden main hall framed by a tranquil rock garden. Beyond the temple buildings lies an atmospheric forest graveyard, where centuries-old stone lanterns stand guard over the tombs of feudal lords.
