Established in the early 20th century by philosopher and yokai researcher Inoue Enryo, Tetsugakudo Park is an eccentric landscaped garden dedicated to world philosophy and esoteric thought. Winding wooded pathways lead visitors past 77 symbolic pavilions, gates, and monuments honoring great thinkers from Socrates and Kant to Confucius and Buddha. At the main entrance, striking statues of a tengu and a ghost stand guard to represent the material and immaterial realms. Now designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty, it offers a fascinating, peaceful escape that blends intellectual curiosity with lush seasonal greenery.
