Miyamoto-Unosuke Drum Museum

Paul Cimino via Google Maps

Founded by the legendary 19th-century drum maker Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten, this one-of-a-kind museum houses an extraordinary collection of around 800 percussion instruments from across the globe. Alongside centuries-old wadaiko crafted for Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, and Kabuki theater, the gallery displays fascinating rhythm instruments from dozens of distinct cultures. Best of all, exhibits marked with a musical note invite hands-on experimentation, letting you feel the resonant power of world rhythms firsthand. Don't miss the first-floor showroom afterwards to admire masterfully constructed mikoshi festival palanquins.
