Kölner Aussicht

쿰척 via Google Maps

Constructed as a symbol of hope following the catastrophic 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, Tokyo's seismic-resistant Kiyosu Bridge was modeled after the famed pre-war Deutz Suspension Bridge in Cologne, Germany. The city designated a prime viewing vantage near the neighboring Mannen Bridge as the 'Kölner Aussicht'—literally the View of Cologne. Though modern urban development has reshaped the skyline, walking along the Sumida River promenade still offers a striking, architectural panorama that connects Tokyo to historic European engineering.
