Dedicated to Kōsaka Jinnai—a legendary mercenary, thief, and supposed ninja apprentice—this humble neighborhood shrine carries an unexpectedly colorful history. Betrayed and captured by the Edo shogunate, Jinnai famously declared before his execution that his spirit would heal anyone suffering from the fevers that had weakened him. Erected near his execution site and later rebuilt after the 1923 earthquake, the shrine remains an intriguing stop for history buffs and folklore enthusiasts. To this day, visitors still stop by to pay respects and pray for good health, particularly on the anniversary of his execution each August.
