Amanoya

Founded in 1846 by a samurai turned shopkeeper, Amanoya has served traditional Japanese refreshments just steps from Kanda Myojin Shrine for generations. The secret to its signature Myojin amazake lies in a historic underground cellar that provides the ideal temperature for cultivating koji mold. Today, visitors can enjoy a warm cup of the naturally sweet fermented rice drink on the go or relax inside the rustic teahouse over mochi, shaved ice, and savory oden. It offers a wonderfully atmospheric, authentic taste of old Edo preserved right in the heart of modern Tokyo.
