Operating for over 240 years, Mishima Candle Shop is one of the rare remaining guardians of traditional Japanese candle making, or warosoku. Housed in an evocative heritage building in Furukawa's historic old town, the shop invites visitors to admire its atmospheric wooden interior and browse elegant, plant-wax candles. Depending on the time of your visit, you can even watch live demonstrations as artisans shape and layer candles using centuries-old techniques. It offers a warm, flickering glimpse into authentic Japanese craftsmanship that is hard to find anywhere else.
