Mizusawa Temple

Jewel via Google Maps

Perched on the mountain slopes southeast of Ikaho Onsen, Mizusawa Temple (Mizusawa Kannon) has welcomed pilgrims for over 1,300 years. Dedicated to Kannon, the goddess of compassion, the tranquil sanctuary is an essential stop along the historic Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. Visitors flock here not only to spin the unique hexagonal revolving pavilion for good fortune, but also to savor handmade Mizusawa udon—one of Japan's most famous regional noodle styles—served in the bustling noodle street right outside the temple gates.
