Sendai City Tomizawa Site Museum (Underground Forest Museum)

キャスカ via Google Maps

Discovered during excavations in the late 1980s, the Tomizawa Site preserves an astonishing 800-square-meter underground Ice Age forest frozen in time for twenty millennia. Visitors can marvel at ancient fossilized spruce trunks alongside prehistoric campfire embers, animal traces, and stone tools displayed in situ. Upper-level galleries feature interactive exhibits and unearthed artifacts spanning from the Paleolithic era through the Middle Ages. Outside, a living botanical recreation of a Pleistocene forest brings the prehistoric landscape vividly back to life.
