Hodosan Shrine

Shi O (shigetomonene) via Google Maps

Founded in the year 110 at the foot of scenic Mount Hodo, Hodosan Shrine has long served as a sacred haven where visitors pray for safety from fires, theft, and natural disasters. The shrine's current complex dates to the early Meiji Period and features splendid Gongen-zukuri architecture, adorned with vibrantly painted timber carvings depicting ancient legends. Shaded by tranquil woodland near the scenic Nagatoro Gorge, it provides a peaceful, spiritual retreat easily combined with local river adventures.
