Nestled in the folklore-rich region of Tono, Oshirado is a sacred pavilion dedicated to Oshira-sama, an enigmatic deity born from a tragic myth involving a farmer's daughter and her beloved horse. Inside, the walls are lined floor-to-ceiling with one thousand carved mulberry-wood idols, each adorned in vibrant patchwork cloth inscribed with personal prayers and wishes. At the center of the chamber stands an ancient mulberry tree, casting an aura of quiet sanctity over this rare public shrine. Visitors can actively take part in this living folk tradition by writing their own wish onto a piece of fabric and draping it over an effigy.
