Tsuwano Castle Ruins

いけだ百景 via Google Maps

Towering 200 meters above the historic valley, the Tsuwano Castle Ruins preserve atmospheric stone foundations that date back to the late 12th century. Though lightning destroyed its original keep in 1686, the fortress's monumental stone walls still commandingly wrap around the mountain crest. Today, visitors can explore the tranquil, moss-dappled ruins and take in breathtaking vistas overlooking the red-roofed townscape. It remains one of the region's most rewarding scenic and historical excursions.
