Kyoto Station Skyway

Stefan Odd Gruszczynski via Google Maps

Tucked away on the 11th floor of Japan's striking postmodern transit hub, the Skyway is a thrilling pedestrian tunnel that spans the station's cavernous interior. Strolling along the glass walkway reveals dizzying views straight down into the matrix of illuminated staircases and exposed steel girders below. Looking out, visitors are treated to unobstructed vistas across northern Kyoto and the glowing beacon of Kyoto Tower. It is an especially magical visit after dark, when dynamic LED light installations transform the monumental terminal into a dazzling cyberpunk spectacle.
