Chionji Temple

Traeix via Google Maps

Standing at the southern entrance of the scenic Amanohashidate Sandbar, Chionji Temple is an esteemed Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple renowned for housing one of Japan's three celebrated statues of Monju Bosatsu, the Bodhisattva of wisdom and intellect. Students and travelers flock here to seek blessings for academic achievement, clarity of mind, and personal success. One of the temple's most enchanting sights is its collection of unique folding-fan fortunes (omikuji), delicately suspended from pine branches throughout the grounds. It offers a tranquil and spiritually enriching pause before or after wandering across the iconic coastal sandbar.
