Omirokusama Shrine

NISSAN DAYZ HighwaySTAR X via Google Maps

Dating back to the turn of the 20th century, Omirokusama Shrine earned legendary status when a local farmer built it to appease an unearthed deity, miraculously curing his household of persistent warts. Word of the miraculous healing spread across Japan, and grateful pilgrims began dedicating frog-themed offerings inspired by the amphibians' bumpy skin. Today, stepping beneath the low torii gate reveals an astonishing collection of ceramic statuettes, cartoon plushies, and toad carvings overflowing from every nook and cranny. It makes for a delightfully eccentric stop for folklore fans and frog lovers exploring the scenic Niyodo River area.
