Tucked into the lush sandstone cliffs of the historic Nagoe Pass, the Mandarado Burial Grottoes form one of the region's most hauntingly atmospheric medieval relics. Dating between the 13th and 15th centuries, these roughly 150 artificial cave tombs—known as yagura—served as sacred crypts for elite samurai and monks.
