Outer Shrine (Geku)

Formally known as Toyouke Daijingu, the Outer Shrine is dedicated to Toyouke Omikami, the divine guardian who provides sustenance to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu. Pilgrims have traditionally journeyed through its ancient cedar groves to pay their respects here before proceeding to the Inner Shrine. The understated wooden architecture and timeless rituals evoke a profound sense of spiritual serenity. Walking along its gravel paths offers an evocative glimpse into the deepest roots of Japan's sacred traditions.
