Kosanji Temple

林政錡 via Google Maps

Founded in 1936 by a successful industrialist in honor of his mother, Kosanji Temple took more than three decades to construct. The sprawling complex of the True Pure Land Sect features dazzling replicas of some of Japan’s most iconic historic structures alongside sprawling museum galleries. Visitors can wander through vibrant halls, explore subterranean caves, and marvel at the harmonious blend of diverse architectural styles. It offers an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind cultural journey off the beaten path along the Shimanami Kaido.
