Originally built in 1914 as a performing arts stage and later converted into a cinema, Motomiya Movie Theater offers a rare, unaltered glimpse into early 20th-century Japanese entertainment. After closing in 1963, the family-run theater was lovingly preserved for decades, retaining its nostalgic 800-seat auditorium, handwritten flyers, and original 1950s carbon-arc projector that remains operational. Visitors who arrange a tour with the owners in advance are treated to an authentic time-capsule lobby packed with mid-century movie memorabilia and local film lore.
