According to folklore, a traveling monk uncovered a lair of human bones kept by a cannibalistic crone, narrowly destroying the demoness with divine intervention before entombing her remains here. The chilling tale went on to inspire classic Noh theater and modern manga, giving this eerie, tree-shaded site an indelible place in Japanese ghost lore.
