Built in 1959 purely as a scenic tourist destination, Atami Castle commands breathtaking clifftop vistas over the coastal city of Atami. Inside, visitors can explore detailed exhibits on Japan's historic fortresses, solve traditional riddles, and try on Edo-period samurai and kimono costumes. The building also hosts eclectic attractions in its basement, including an exhibition of erotic ukiyo-e woodblock prints and a retro game center.
