T T via Google Maps

Held annually from August 2 to 7, the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri is renowned as one of the Tohoku region's three great summer festivals. The heart of the celebration is the daily procession of massive, intricately crafted paper lantern floats depicting mythical figures and historical warriors glowing brilliantly against the night sky. Swarms of chanting 'haneto' dancers and thunderous taiko drummers accompany each float, filling the city with an infectious, jubilant energy. Travelers are swept up in the unforgettable spectacle of light, music, and centuries-old local pride.
