Standing sentinel outside the Oga Visitor Center, these two massive 15-meter (49-foot) statues depict the ferocious Namahage—traditional demon-like deities known for warding off misfortune and scolding lazy children. With their bared fangs, wild expressions, and traditional straw capes, the giant figures make for an iconic roadside photo stop.
